Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Jersey Cheese, Avocado, and Jalapeño

Preparation time: 15 min.

Ingredients for 2 sandwiches:

    • 4 slices of hearty bread (e.g. sourdough or whole grain bread)
    • 100 g Jersey cheese, grated or sliced thinly (e.g. Jersey Gouda or Jersey Cheddar)
    • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
    • 1 fresh jalapeño, sliced into thin rings (use less if you prefer it less spicy)
    • 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
    • Optional: a pinch of sea salt and lime juice to enhance the flavor of the avocado

Preperation:

  1. Prepare the Sandwich:
  • Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread, which will create a golden, crispy crust when grilled.
  • Place two slices of bread with the buttered side facing down.
  1. Assemble the Sandwich:
  • Evenly distribute the Jersey cheese on the two slices of bread.
  • Place the avocado slices evenly over the cheese.
  • Sprinkle the jalapeño rings over the avocado. Adjust the amount depending on how spicy you want your sandwich.
  • Place the other slices of bread on top, with the buttered side facing up.
  1. Grill the Sandwich:
  • Heat a pan over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese has melted.
  • Press down gently with a spatula to ensure the cheese melts thoroughly and the avocado and jalapeño combine nicely.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the sandwiches from the pan and cut them diagonally.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the delicious combination of creamy cheese, soft avocado, and spicy jalapeño!

Enjoy!
